| Hello! My name is Raymart Marote. My friends call me Rem Rem. I am 15 Years of age. I am now in the 3rd year of my High School education at Pulot National High School that is located in my home barrio of Pulot in Ozamiz City. It will take me at least 5 or 6 more years to finish my education courses. I am very fortunate that I was recommended to Lolo Father Kill and was accepted into the program at Balay San Columbano. I come here during my vacations and semester breaks to help Lolo with projects for the community. That is my way of helping others right now. My father works whenever he can. He can do many things, but he can not always find work. We are only two children in our family. I have lived most of the time with my aunt and her husband. They have been good to me but they do not have money to send me to school. We are lucky to have enough to eat every day. Some days when there is nothing to eat, we just go out and find some bananas or ask our neighbors permission to dig up some of their root crops, just so we can have something to eat. I was only one year old when our mother abandoned us. We have no idea where she went. Some people say she is in Manila, others say she has left the country. Still others say she is already dead. I want to go to school so that I will have a better life and make a good family of my own. I wanted to live at Balay San Columbano, but Lolo told me there just was not more room for this year. When someone graduates this year, he will have me transfer to here. When I finish my education, I also want to help my aunt who has been so good to me and to help others who are like myself, poor and without hope. I thank all of those who are helping Lolo to care for us. Without you we would have no hope, no place to live, no schooling. We pray for all of you who have been so good to us..
