Hello! My name is Angel Rose Dicenan. I am 18 Years of age. I am now in the 2nd year of my College education at at Immaculate Conception College - La Salle in Ozamiz City. My course is Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education. It will take me 2 more years to finish my course. I am very fortunate that I was recommended to Lolo Father Kill and was accepted into the program at Balay San Columbano. I live in Barrio Catadman which is a part of Ozamiz City. Our humble home is near to the Central House of the Columban Fathers in Catadman. We are only two children in my family. My father, Fernando, died even before I was born. My mom was still five months pregnant with me when he died in a tragic accident. My mother, Amalia, has her very small store that is attached to our house. She sell a few things every day so that we have money for food. She sells things like spices for cooking and soap and bleach for washing clothes. She does not make much money every day, but we able to eat. She never married again after my father died. All she wants to do is to take care of the two of us, her children and try to give us a better life. That is why she always encouraged me to do the best I can in school. Because we are members of one of the cultural minority groups, I was able to get the award of a partial scholarship when I graduated from High School. It does not even cover all of my tuition, but at least it is a help. That Scholarship is from the National Indigenous Cultural Program. I am lucky that Lolo Father Kill accepted me into the Balay San Columbano Program. Through that program, Lolo is able to provide for the rest of my tuition, as well as some of my other needs for going to school. I go once a week to help with the garden that the other students have near Lolo’s house so that I can give something back in return for the kindness shown to me. It is only a small amount of help, but it makes me feel good that I can do something. When I graduate, I hope to help my mom and maybe even help some of my younger cousins go to school also. That way I can pass your gift to me on to others. I thank God for all of those who are helping me and those who are helping Lolo to care for the others. Without you we would have no hope, no schooling and some would not have a place to live. We pray for all of you who have been so good to us.. I have an e-mail address if you would like to write to me. My address is dice_angel@yahoo.com Thanks and God Bless all of you,
